Self Confidence A Father's Journey...

You see it right off,  where the mother daughter stuff starts !  Perhaps day one as you whisper good night to the newly born "princess" your little daughter that has captured your heart, and your wife smiles up and says "good night, I love you too" thinking that was for her.

You'll have to keep on reminding your wife how awesome and amazing and how she's still and always will be your first love.  She'll expect you to get behind her when your daughter is 13 and driving  her  nuts. That's when - if you have not totally abandoned your wife  she'll listen to you as you remind her not to rearrange all your daughters molecules and won't  instead turn on you too!  Unresolved issues in the mother often are revisited as their daughters crest these ages reminding the mother of her own unfinished business. This is where the daughter's self esteem can take a pounding and the dads sometimes can't get it to stop.  The daughters pay for this psychic attack from their mothers, and the mothers seem helpless to stop.

If you read:  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs...it gives you an idea of how crazy it can get with jealous envy of her daughters innocence and beauty. It doesn't happen right away, along  about 13 years or so. From 13-18 those five years are where you can really harvest a good crop of gray hair. In the story the King leaves home for war for as many years avoiding all the travesty. Sometimes this happens and the daughter is abandoned by both parents.

Nearly every time my son and I go grocery shopping, he begs me to buy children's vitamins. I know parents tend to disagree when it comes to children's vitamins. Personally, while I don't think they're harmful, I don't think they're necessary. My son eats plenty of fruits and vegetables, he gets sufficient calcium from milk, yogurt, and fortified orange juice, and he eats a broad range of other healthy foods as well.

But my kid LOVES his candy. And I'm quite certain that is why he wants those gummy vitamins he sees in the store so badly.

Angie over at ParentDish recently wrote about a study regarding children's vitamins. The study reviewed 14 types of vitamins and found that only five of the reviewed brands had the 12 essential vitamins you would expect. Some brands had as little as four vitamins. The researchers state that the vitamins are little better than candy.

Whole-grain foods are all the rage these days, and for good reason. But do you know what those good reasons happen to be? Chances are you do; reduced risk of heart disease and diabetes, lower cholesterol, etc. Nevertheless, there may be some you're not so aware of, such as protecting against asthma, pulmonary disease, and certain digestive disorders.
